Integration

Sorry, there is not a lot to see here.

But that is the whole point; there is nothing to look at because the computers and systems do all the work. That's what they're for, right?

But seriously, once you have entered your data once, whether it is account data or a fictional story, why should you have to enter it again? Is this a case where practice makes perfect or a case where repetition only generates more errors?

Integration is all about passing data from one system or machine to another, standardizing the "handshake", building in data integrity. You don't get more control by doing more of the process manually, you get less because you can't keep up and stay accurate.

Shop online at Land's End, and their available inventory will reflect your online purchase in real time. Shop with the average online merchant and you might get email in a week saying that what you bought is out of stock. You won't be buying from that latter merchant again will you? Your data needs to be consistent and up to date no matter where you use it; that is the payoff from integration.
