MaineStreet's System Policies

Payment Policy

Payment is due on receipt of your invoice from MaineStreet.

The Accounting Daemon counts your every second and byte.

Except where specially arranged, new accounts for which we have received no payment will be closed in 14 days. Any account 45 days past due will be automatically closed. There will be no phone or in-house support for any account with a past-due balance.

Any customer whose account is closed will have to pay full activation fees, any penalties, interest or other related charges before we will consider reactivation.

We strongly recommend all customers use Direct Debit wherever possible. That service is available for payment of all types of accounts.

If your account is 30 days overdue you will receive notice by email and/or post that you have two weeks to bring it current before the Accounting Daemon kills it. We will call you only if something is seriously amiss with your account.

If you are closing your account, you must let us know. Simply not using it further is not adequate.

Work by Third Parties

Requests from third parties will typically be denied and returned without action unless you have previously authorized that third party to incur expenses on your behalf. We will not try to contact you to verify the request; authorization must originate from you, the customer. It is the responsibility of that third party to have you contact us.

Spamming and Junk Mail

One and one-half strikes and you're out. Ask if you need clarification.

Systems Logs and the Legal System

We do not log our customer's activities; we keep logs of system activities only for security and performance reasons. Those logs are deleted after analysis. We will make (and have made) every effort to restrict the scope of any searches to information concerning only the account specified in any subpoena. While we do make every effort to protect your privacy, that also means we can't tell you where your mail went astray last week; call immediately if you need to trace anything in our logs.

Usernames

Usernames can be up to 16 characters long and can contain no special characters. They must be at least 6 characters long. Numbers are OK as long as the username you choose does not begin with a number. Usernames for the Access Only account must be some combination of your name and initials with numbers optional. We suggest something like `first initial'`last name' or `first name'`last initial'. Should that username already exist on the system you will be prompted to try again.

Be sure not to use any "weird" characters such as punctuation marks, etc.

Most, but not all of the time, a username is case insensitive. MaineStreet requires lower case usernames.

Passwords

Your password must be at least six characters long, less than 12 characters in length, and contain a mix of uppercase and lowercase characters and numbers. Special characters are OK in the password, but we can't be sure that your terminal will translate or display them properly!

Your password is case sensitive and must be typed exactly or you will be denied access.

You are responsible for all use of your password.

Documentation

We are very serious about getting the paperwork right. You must sign the Customer Agreement, the Direct Debit Authorization and your Service Agreements and return them to MaineStreet within 10 days or your account will be automatically cancelled.

Tech Visit

MaineStreet will send out a technician if needed, our technicians bill accordingly and we cannot quote their prices.
