Trumpet - Log On

Click once on the word Dialer on the menu bar to display the dialing menu options. Click once on the menu option Login.

This will start the Login Script. The Script automatically resets your modem, dials the phone number to MaineStreet, enters your userid and password and enables you to use the other programs on the Internet. You must let the script finish completely before proceeding to the next step. You will know you are connected and ready to go on to the next step when you see the phrase SLIPping into something more comfortable... on the screen.

Now you are ready to start your other software such as Netscape or Eudora. There are two ways to get to your other software without closing Trumpet. If you close or exit Trumpet you will lose your connection with MaineStreet and none of the other software will work the way it should.

Option One: Minimize the Trumpet screen. In the upper right hand corner of the Trumpet window you will see two buttons. One of these buttons has a triangle pointing down; the other has either a triangle pointing up or two triangles, one pointing up and the other down. Click once on the triangle pointing down to minimize the Trumpet window. The Internet Program Group is now visible in the foreground of your screen.

Option Two: Get to the rest of the software with the [Alt]-[Tab] function of Windows. While holding down your [Alt] key on the keyboard, repeatedly press the [Tab] key on your keyboard. You will notice that a small banner will come onto your screen displaying the name of one of the programs that you currently have open. Each time you hit that [Tab] key a different program name will appear. When you see Program Manager appear on the banner, release your [Alt] key. The Program Manager and the Internet Program Group should appear in the foreground of your screen.

Double click on the icon of the program you wish to use on-line.

Go on to Logging off the Internet.
