Accounting Configuration Handbook |
Ewan is a simple telnet program which allows you to log in to another computer or server on the Internet. Once logged on, users have access to a file system similar to DOS. Files and directories can be created, accessed and modified, depending on the level of access the user has on the system. The opening screen allows you to select a currently existing connection, or create a new one.
![]() To create a new connection click on New, or if you have already connected, click File and then New.
![]() You will be prompted for a name for the connection, as well as the address of the system to be connected to. If you wanted to telnet to your MaineStreet account, for example, you might name the connection 'MaineStreet' and you would enter the pop account that you are currently assigned to, such as 'auburn.maine.com'. Then click OK. Your new connection will now appear in the connection box. Select a connection from the connection box and click on OK, or if you have already connected, click on File and then on Open. Ewan will attempt to connect you to your server. Then 'Connection Established' should appear in the lower left-hand corner, and a login prompt will appear on the terminal screen.
![]() Enter your MaineStreet username. Next you will be prompted for your password. Enter your MaineStreet password. Then you will see a prompt which indicates that you are in your MaineStreet account, which consists of your username and '@auburn' or whatever your pop account is, followed by ':~$'.
![]() Type 'ls' to see a list of files that are currently in your account. To leave your MaineStreet account, type 'logout'. 'Disconnected' should appear in the lower lefthand corner. To reconnect, click on Session and then Connect.
