Samba on Windows 95

In order to be able to mount your filesystem on your desktop you will need to have the following:

  1. An account with Mainestreet with the ability to publish.
  2. Know the machine location of your files (auburn or gray)
  3. Running Windows 95

  1. Connect to the internet using your normal procedure.
  2. click on "start" "run" and type in your machine name "\\auburn" "\\gray" (image)
  3. A box with a folder called "Mainestreet" will come up. Drag that folder onto your deskptop. (image)
  4. Double click on the folder. It will ask you for your password. Enter it. (images)
  5. Your Mainestreet file system will open onto your desktop. (images)
  6. If you want to map that folder to a network drive to be available in a "driveletter:\" format:
    1. minimize the big folder
    2. put your mouse button over the small "Mainestreet" folder
    3. select "Map to network drive"
    4. pick a letter.

If you do want to map to a letter drive, then the folder will be available under the desktop portion when you open an application. (images)
