Note: MaineStreet Communications, Inc. no longer offers dial-up connections as we have moved away from the ISP business. MaineStreet is currently focusing on web publishing, database integrations, and online catalogs. Our dial-up software will still work for our grandfathered clients, however we no longer will provide help in configuring your system. If you feel that you need a more personalized internet connection we suggest that you check your local tel-co or the yellow pages.

If you feel your situation requires only a little special help, you may schedule over the phone support from us at our regular rates. For this to be effective you should have a second line available for your modem.

We will not walk you through a complete installation over the phone.

We recommend standard Internet shareware

You will find that in general the best software is freeware or shareware. It's free to download, but if you decide to keep it, you will want to pay the registration fees. Some programs will stop working if you continue using them without paying for them. Often the companies who make shareware will send you a manual when you pay the registration fee. To register shareware, follow the instructions that appear on screen when you open the programs or check accompanying readme files.

Shareware is cheap by comparison to commercial software and many times of superior quality. Please register and support shareware so we can keep this valuable resource.
